    temporary pending my entrepreneur life; working for an innovative company again. too many things happened within past 2 years. lost something, and rewarded others. life is balanced with chinese tao: yin & yang.  just following it naturally!

  Businessweek predicts the consolidation in business consulting and design consulting will appear in 2008. of course, 2 companies are among their nominees: Mckinsey and IDEO. 

  these 2 companies rank top 1 in each field. after IDEO turns "design thinking" into a popular word in business world. design thinking seems the bridge to connect business consulting with design house.  in this theory, every business problem can be designed to be solved. every company is pursuing innovation in product and business model. under this trend, the merge between a business consulting firm and a design consultancy is natural.

  Mckinsey, BCG, IDEO and frog design,  do you think who will take who? my prediction is:

  BCG + IDEO; Mckinsey + frog design or Mckinsey will keep single

   why?

  BCG is good at innovation research. so it's a good deal for both of BCG and IDEO.

  Mckinsey is a prudent company. and many articles from Mckinsey quarterly seldom do research on innovation. so I think maybe they are still focusing on business strategy and recent BPO business. if they want to acquire a design consultancy firm, I think frog design is the best choice. at least frog design is in the same building with Mckinsey in Shanghai.
